Kansas Equifest Coming to Salina

A major equestrian event is coming to Salina.

On March 6, 7 & 8, 2020, Equifest of Kansas, the Premier All Breed Horse Fair and Exposition will open for the 23rd year running at a new location, the Tony’s Pizza Event Center & Saline County Livestock Expo Center in Salina.

Rick Lamer, Director of the Expo Center, made the announcement during the Saline County Commission meeting.

Over 15,000 people attend Kansas Equifest events over three days last year. Saline County Chairman Robert Vidricksen said the three day event can bring 15,000-20,000 guests.

Kansas Equifes is one of the largest horse shows in the mid-west.

Chamber of Commerce staff worked diligently with the county to bring the festival to Salina.

Equifest organizers are optimistic that if the event were held in Saline County for multiple years they could see even higher attendance.

In the same vein, Lamer said the Carden three ring circus was pleased with their recent use of Ag Hall.  They too wish to return for two more years. To keep both events long-term a challenge remains in ironing out an agreement with the City and County Commissions on the continued use of the Expo Center.
