Hydroplane Injury Accident on I-135

Slick roads appear to be to blame for single-vehicle crash on Interstate-135 in Saline County on Monday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol tells KSAL News that the crash happened at I-135, three miles south of I-70 where a 1991 Thunderbird was traveling southbound. The vehicle hydroplaned, lost control and struck the guard rail in the median.

There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time including the driver, Jack Bergeson, 19, Wichita, and passenger; Sean Oppenheimer, 19, Fairfield, Conn.

Both Bergeson and Oppenheimer were buckled up, however, sustained minor injuries. They were both transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center.

The crash happened at 2:47 p.m. on Monday at milepost 93 on I-135 in Saline County or approximately three miles south of I-70.
