An impaired Salina woman wrecked her car Friday night shortly after the right front wheel fell off.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester told KSAL News:
Shortly before 10:40 on May 3rd, a woman from Salina was driving home under the influence. At the corner of Shipton and Ohio her right front wheel fell off, but she continued driving. The woman turned onto the 1000 block of East Pacific but lost control of her 2009 Nissan Altima and left the roadway. She struck a light pole and a few minutes later, her vehicle caught on fire.

The 44-year-old woman had a few scrapes and cuts on her arms but refused medical treatment.

The Salina Fire Department responded to the scene with officers from the Salina Police Department and deputies from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was given citations for: No Proof Of Insurance, and Restrictions On Tire Equipment.
She was taken into custody for a DUI charge.
