Drugs Found after I-70 Stop

A speeding ticket turns into jail time for a man driving through Kansas.

According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, 24-year-old Dakota Rogers was clocked driving 89-mph in a 75-mph speed zone on Interstate-70 near the North 9th Street exit. Police say the officer then followed Rogers’ 2012 Honda Civic into the parking lot at the 24/7 Store located in the 2200 block of N 9th and made contact with him.

A drug sniffing dog indicated there were illegal drugs in the car with him and a search of the vehicle then revealed about 5-ounces of marijuana plus supplies of pot edibles.

Rogers is now facing charges that could include felony possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Rogers’ car is registered in California and told authorities he is homeless.
