Deputy Hits Deer

Saline County Sheriff truck

A deputy hit a deer while on patrol over the weekend.

Sheriff-elect Roger Soldan tells KSAL News that Deputy Jay Rector was northbound on K143 in his patrol unit Saturday just before 11pm and was struck by a deer.

The 2013 Ford truck had damage to the right front end and some minor hood damage.

The deer was killed in the collision.

There were no injuries and a damage estimate to the truck was not available.
