The Buhler Crusaders improved to (9-0) since 2007 against the Abilene Cowboys with a 45-13 victory in Buhler Friday night. The game was never close. Buhler led 38-0 at halftime and with Jhet Burkhart’s 13 yard touchdown run on the Crusaders opening possession of the second half it put in progress a running clock for the rest of the game.
Buhler was dominant as they totaled unofficially 425 yards in the game with 343 of that coming in the first half. Abilene managed only 13 yards in the first half but did end up with 143 by the end of the game.
Buhler was led by Dalton Brown the Junior running back carried the ball 19 times for 190 yards unofficially and three touchdowns. Buhler Junior Quarterback Ethan White connected twice with Junior Receiver Dalton Smyres on touchdown passes of 62 and 33 yards.
Abilene Senior Quarterback Ryan Wilson connected for two fourth quarter touchdown passes to Sophomore Preston Boyd and Senior Carter Wildey.
Abilene finished the season 7-3. It was the final game for 18 Abilene Seniors. The Senior class had a hand in three straight undefeated NCKL championships and two straight playoff appearances.
Buhler improved to (9-1) and will face Mulvane next Friday. Mulvane defeated Augusta 42-7.
