KSAL StaffMay 19, 2016

A couple of teens are accused of burglary and vandalism.

Police say that 18-year-old Devin Murrell and 15-year-old Xavier Murrell were both arrested Wednesday.

The brothers are accused of breaking into a building at 748 Duvall that is being used as a warehouse. An air conditioning unit was torn out of a back wall to gain entry. Allegedly, the boys crawled up into the ceiling and unsuccessfully tried to gain entry to the adjacent Wilson Security building. Nothing was stolen, but a wall, air conditioning unit, duct work, a door frame, and shelves were all damaged. Total damage is estimated at $2,500.

Devin is also accused of using an airgun to shoot out four windows on a house in the 600 Block of North 9th Street, and a back window of a car  behind a home in the 400 Block of West Grand Avenue. Total damage from the windows is estimated at $600.

Devin Murrell could face multiple charges that include burglary, attempted theft, multiple counts of criminal damage to property, unlawful discharge of an airgun, and contributing to a child’s misconduct. Xavier Murell could face charges that include burglary, attempted theft, and criminal damage to property.
