A mother is arrested after officers find a child playing in a pickup truck alone.
Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News a 4-year-old boy was placed into protective custody after officers made a welfare check in the 500 block of S. 12th Street on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the boy was unattended and in the truck with the keys in the ignition.
Officers attempted to wake up the boy’s mother for 55-minutes as she slept inside her home, while two large dogs barked at cops from the fenced yard.
Police charged 39-year-old Wendy A. Jeffrey with endangering a child.
Captain Sweeney says a concerned citizen called authorities around 2:20pm after noticing the boy was unattended.
