Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that the 3-hour ordeal began Saturday around 5pm, when her assailant accused her of having an affair, “She was held in a basement by a known individual for several hours,” he said.

The victim told officers the man pulled a knife out at one point and told her, “you are going to die tonight.”

Captain Sweeney added, “While being held she was sexually assaulted and strangled.”

Police arrested 29-year-old David Summers of Salina on Saturday night on multiple charges that include attempted 2nd degree murder, rape and child endangerment.
