Argument Leads to Arrest

A Salina man is taken into custody after choking a woman he would not allow to leave her house.

Police arrested 24-year-old Kyle Cook on Monday after an argument turned violent in a north Salina home.

Police say Cook and a female victim in her 20’s were arguing and when she attempted to leave the residence, was held against her will – and strangled to a point of almost passing out.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that at one point during the two-hour ordeal Cook threw a female toddler onto a bed, bumping her head.

He then left the home and was found by officers near the residence and arrested on charges of aggravated battery, child abuse, criminal restraint and criminal damage for smashing a cell phone and punching a hole in the wall.
