Aggravated Man Strangles Salina Woman

Aggravated Domestic Battery charges for a Salina man after he allegedly strangled the woman he lives with.

According to Captain Paul Forrester of the Salina Police Department; Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Beloit after they received a call from a woman asking for help.  Officers arrived around 5:30 on Friday night and made contact with the woman who called.  The unnamed 41-year-old was having difficulty breathing and officers observed red marks on her neck and blood on her lips.

In her report the woman said she found narcotics inside the home and confronted 38-year-old Gilbert Reed. The couple got into an argument which lead to Reed putting his hands around the woman’s neck, he strangled her until she allegedly fell unconscious on the living room floor. Reed also allegedly struck her mouth and threw her cellphone against the wall, consequently breaking the device.

The woman was able to use the broken phone to call 911.

The aggravated Gilbert Reed left the residence before police arrived but was eventually located on the 18th in the 300 block of S. Broadway and taken into custody.

His charges include: Aggravated Domestic Battery, Criminal Threat, and Domestic Battery.
