A man from Tennessee and a woman from Georgia were arrested after a large of amount of marijuana was found in their vehicles during a traffic stop in Kansas.

According to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday at around 10:00am deputies seized 87 pounds of marijuana from a traffic stop on eastbound I-70 near MacVicar Ave. Two vehicles, a 2019 Dodge Caravan and a 2019 Nissan Armada, were involved in the traffic stop.

Two people were arrested. They include:

• Preston G. Payne, 33, of Rossville, GA
• Ruth A. Sayger, 30, of Chattanooga, TN

Both were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on multiple possible felony charges.

The Kansas Highway Patrol assisted with the traffic stop.
