4.5 Saturday Morning Earthquake

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook parts of Kansas and Nebraska early Saturday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake happened at 3:50 Saturday morning. It was centered 6.8 miles west of the Rooks County community of Plainville.

According to the USGS, the quake was felt throughout Kansas and into Nebraska.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

Earthquakes of this magnitude, ranging between 2.5 and 5.4, are often felt but only cause minor damage.
