A small vacant north Salina building was destroyed by a fire overnight.

The Salina Fire Department tells KSAL News that crews responded to the report of a structure fire at around 11:30 Friday night. A small building at the corner of East Pacific and North Second Street was fully engulfed in flames when the first firefights arrived.

The building, which among other things used to be the location of Willie’s Bar-B-Q restaurant and also a liquor store, was currently being used for storage. It is a total loss. A cement truck parked in front of it was also destroyed.

According to the department, this is the second fire at this building within about the last month. Additionally, a fire on July 4th damaged a structure across the street, the former Flaming Motel building.

There were no injuries in any of the incidents.

Investigators are working to determine a cause.

Is this not Ben Fricks junk? I drove by there couple weeks ago and you could see boxes piled up in the windows! Second fire in a month???? And a cement truck parked just close enough to destroy it too, and that doesn’t seem odd to anyone??? Looks like it was intentional to me! Gonna get a big insurance check for that aren’t ya Ben Frick! Something needs to be done about this packrat and his rundown unsafe properties in our town!!!!

I think the Flaming Motel may be right. It was in July.
