A man from Falun was killed in a single-vehicle crash in rural Saline County early Monday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 53-year-old Steven Brunson was driving a car, headed north on Burma Road. The car left the road, entered the east ditch, and struck a tree head on.

Troopers say that Brunson was not buckled up.

The crash happened at around 4:30 Monday morning,  a half mile north of the Burma Road / Falun Road intersection near Falun.

Rather know why the car left the road rather than if he was wearing a seat belt. Was he on his cell phone talking or texting? Or he had a blow out of a tire or some other mechanical failure all of which is more news than the seatbelt that highway patrol feels its important to say. Oh forgot seatbelt usage generates money for the state.

OK genius…..how does seatbelt usage generate money for the state?? I think the two larger points are A) a person died in a tragic accident, REGARDLESS if it was mechanical or he was texting or if he fell asleep ect….doesnt really matter does it?.. and 2) The fact that he WASNT wearing his seatbelt probably caused A (his death) I am guessing that if he would have been wearing his seatbelt, chances are MUCH better of surviving the accident. Maybe if the media keeps mentioning that fact, people might start wearing them more. I guess if you dont learn anything from this tragic loss and start pulling you head out….. its YOUR a**!!! I am sorry for the family’s loss.
