KSAL StaffNovember 19, 2014

A 31-year-old Las Vegas man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing 80 pounds of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says the Kansas Highway Patrol found the drugs in Thomas Serrato-Jaimes’ car on June 20 after he was stopped on Interstate 70 near Hays. Investigators also found 11 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle.

Grissom says Serrato-Jaimes will serve 135 months on the drug conviction.
