KSAL StaffNovember 22, 2017

A Salina man was taken into custody after jumping out of a stolen SUV and running into the woods.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that 22-year-old Malachi Lageman was arrested on Monday in connection to a string of vehicle burglaries.

Police say between October 21 and November 20 Lageman allegedly broke into three vehicles on Clark Street and S. College taking purses and cash and also a business, Virg’s Auto located at 501 E. Pacific.

Investigators allege he removed two Snap-on automotive scanners valued at $14,000 plus two vehicles, a 1978 Ford Ranchero and the 1995 Jeep Cherokee he was found sitting inside in the 900 block of N. 13th Street prior to his arrest.

Police also found a small amount of personal use methamphetamine and a .22 pistol he stole from Virg’s Auto during the burglary.

Lageman is now facing multiple charges that could include vehicle burglary, theft and felon in possession of a firearm.
