Salina Police Dog Dies

KSAL StaffOctober 16, 2014

The Salina Police Department is mourning the loss of a K-9 officer.

According to the department, K-9 officer Dax passed away Thursday. Dax, a six-year-old German Sheppard, passed away following a short illness.

Dax had an excellent career since joining the department in November of 2011. He was trained by K-9 Working Dogs International. Dax excelled at tracking fugitives and locating narcotics.

Dax and his handler, Officer Aaron Carswell, worked 3rd shift together for many years.

The department’s appreciation goes out to the Atherton Veterinary Clinic for their care and compassion for Dax during his final days.

The department says “Dax’s loyal service to the citizens of Salina and the Salina Police Department will be sorely missed. Please keep Dax in your thoughts and prayers. We’ll miss you my friend.”
