Salina Police are investigating after several grass fires were set yesterday.
Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that fire crews extinguished three separate grass fires on Wednesday afternoon between 3pm and 4pm.
Two patches of grass were lit at the Windsor Apartments on S. 2nd Street while another swath of grass was ignited in Oakdale Park.
Police found burn marks on some of the newspaper sculptures near the Oakdale footbridge as well.
Police are now looking for three middle school aged males who may be tied to the fires.
Captain Sweeney says two 11-year-old boys were allegedly chased and threatened by the group – after they saw the older boys light a fire in the alley behind the Taco Bell on East Iron.
