A Salina man is facing attempted 1st degree murder charges.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that 34-year-old Raymond Isom was arrested on Monday after officers found him hiding inside an enclosed porch at 713 N. 4th after he allegedly shot a 20-year-old man twice in the stomach.

Officers from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Salina Police Department joined forces to find Isom and a 9mm handgun that was stashed under a porch at 732 N. 3rd.

Police say an altercation between Isom and 20-year-old Melchizedek Fitzgerald turned violent inside an apartment at 821 N. 2nd Street on Monday around 12:30pm.

Fitzgerald was transported to Salina Regional Health Center, then to a Wichita hospital to be treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
