Mother and Sons Safe after Shots Fired

KSAL StaffOctober 27, 2014

A bullet from a drive-by shooter narrowly misses a woman in bed.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that at least five shots were fired at a house on Sunday morning at the corner of Franklin and Custer, “One of the rounds went through a bedroom window in which the female victim was in bed,” he said.

“It went through the headboard and through the pillow that she was lying on.”

Captain Sweeney says the 23-year-old woman was not hurt, nor were the two pre-school aged boys who were sleeping in the bedroom next to hers at about 6:30 am Sunday morning.

Police believe the shooter was specifically targeting the house at 829 Custer with an automatic pistol.

Officers say the shots hit the north side of the home. No shell casings were found in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

There were no injuries.
