A mother calls police after she learns about a man assaulting her daughter.
Police arrested 43-year-old Basil Scott McNelly of Salina on one charge of rape, battery and indecent liberties with a child.
Police say the mother of a 9-year-old girl contacted SPD on Thursday after learning of the abuse that allegedly took place in a south Salina home between an acquaintance and her daughter.
Captain Chris Trocheck tells KSAL News that the incidents occurred between mid-September and October.
McNelly was arrested on Thursday without incident.
