Salina City and Saline County rural firefighters responded to a large fire at the Salina Waste Water Plant on North Marymount Road late Friday afternoon.
The initial call indicated that a lime pit might be on fire. The first responders to the scene encountered heavy black smoke as they arrived. They discovered that a lime pit was not on fire, but rather there was a large grass fire.
Rural firefighters responded to take care of the grass fire, and to make sure the city structure, which is the only structure in the area, was safe and secure and in no danger.
There were no injuries.
