KU Added To Schools In Sex Assault Probe

KSAL StaffJuly 29, 2014

The University of Kansas has been added to a list of colleges and universities under investigation for how they handled investigations into sexual assaults.

71 schools, including Washburn University, have been named by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights as part of a probe into sexual violence against women on campus.

University of Kansas officials issued a statement Monday saying the school doesn’t tolerate sexual assault and will assist in the federal review.

The list doesn’t include specific information about what case got a school included, and the university declined to provide details.

A White House task force said earlier this year that nationally 1 in 5 female students is assaulted.
