Goddard police are investigating a report a referee was slugged during a high school playoff football game.
KAKE-TV reports that during last Friday’s playoff game between Wichita Heights High School and Goddard High, officials had to restrain players who began to scuffle at the end of the contest. One of the officials alleges that a Goddard player punched him in the stomach.
Police and state athletic officials are investigating the allegations.
Authorities say the case will be handed over to the juvenile district attorney, where misdemeanor battery charges will be sought against the student.
