Kansas Governor Laura Kelly is suggesting an online sales tax for Kansas residents as part of her proposed state budget.

Kelly says the tax would generate about 50-million-dollars in revenue for the state and level the playing field between local stores and online retailers.

Money collected through the tax would pay for education and road maintenance.

In addition, a percentage of sales tax revenue would be distributed across the state to help reduce property taxes.
