Forgery Arrest

KSAL StaffNovember 24, 2014

An employee at a Salina retirement community is accused of forgery and theft.

Police arrested 35-year-old Karis Ann Ratcliff of Salina on Saturday.

Police allege that while Ratcliff was a dietary assistant at Presbyterian Manor, 2601 E. Crawford, she removed blank checks from an 80-year-old female’s room, forged the woman’s name and deposited the money in her own bank account.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that a relative of the victim contacted police after discovering that her account was overdrawn.

Police say Ratcliff stole the checks and endorsed six of them totalling $2,800 to herself between October 1st and and October 30th of this year.
