Drag Racer Arrested

KSAL StaffSeptember 25, 2014

Police arrest a driver who led officers on a high speed chase.

The pursuit began on Wednesday evening at about 9:15pm after an officer on patrol witnessed two cars drag racing at the light on S. Ohio and Magnolia.

Police say 21-year-old Gustavo Hernandez-Flores would not pull his 2003 Acura over for a patrol unit following him with lights and siren.

Speeds reached 47-mph in town and at one time he was seen by witnesses northbound on I-135 before he stopped in the 100 block of 7th Street and Ash, where he exited the vehicle and ran.

Hernandez-Flores was caught a short time later and is now facing multiple charges for speeding, eluding and endangering a child.

Police say a 15-year-old female was a passenger in the vehicle as well.
