KSAL StaffDecember 8, 2014

A Salina man returns home to find his house emptied.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that John Windell contacted police after returning home from an extended period of time to report that his house in the 100 block of N. 11th had been ransacked.

Police say a safe with $8,000 cash was removed plus a bedroom set, appliances, three laptop computers, furniture, flat screen TV, and air conditioning unit.

Police are looking at a time frame between mid-June to December 5th.

The owner told officers the thieves also stole a new garage door opener that was still in the box plus a comic book collection valued at $7,000.

Total loss is listed at $47,000.
