Alleged Armed Robber Arrested

A suspect wanted for pistol whipping a man in October – is caught by police after allegedly robbing a Salina liquor store on Friday night.

Police used video from Dalila’s Liquor, 915 W. Crawford to help identify 21-year-old Calvin Frenzley, and a tip from a concerned citizen to locate him on Saturday at the Days Inn.

Police allege that Frenzley walked into Dalila’s at about 6:50pm on Friday – showed the cashier a gun, demanded money from the drawer and ran out with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that officers also found marijuana packaged up for sale in Frenzley’s room along with drug paraphernalia during a search of his room on Saturday evening at the Days Inn, 632 Westport Blvd.

Police say they did not find the weapon used in the alleged armed robbery.

Frenzley is now facing multiple charges of aggravated robbery, theft and aggravated burglary dating back to an incident on October 21, when he allegedly beat a man with a gun and stole a PlayStation game console from an apartment in the 700 block of Guernsey.

The victim was treated for a cut under his eye, and on the back of his head, jaw and forearm.
