The numbers are staggering and the need is great as the homeless and hungry continue to knock on the door at the Salina Rescue Mission.
Executive Director Chris Young tells KSAL News that over the past 12-months, staff and volunteers have served over 73,000 meals to those in need.
Young stopped by the KSAL Morning News Extra with a reminder to shoppers that the 26th Annual Dr. Temple Food Drive is coming up Friday and Saturday at all Salina Dillons locations.
Young says the list of needs will be right on the bag.
On average, the mission shelters over 85 men per night, while providing job training and restoration. Young added their dining hall is open to all for a free, hot meal.
