Hernan is an ESL teacher at South Middle School. This is his fifth year teaching and his second year at South Middle. He always knew he wanted to help people and once considered becoming a nurse, but later in life he decided to become a teacher. He is inspired by his third grade teacher, Mr. Ingram. His favorite part of teaching is the connections and relationships he builds with students. He enjoys seeing the “lightbulb” moment after helping students with something they were struggling with. He also appreciates hearing that he has made an impact in a student’s life. Some fun facts about Hernan are that he loves Dragon Ball Z, he has a Chihuahua named Taco and a husky named Stargirl.
