UPDATE: Kansas Plane Crash Pilot Identified

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a pilot died when his crop dusting plane crashed in northwest Kansas.

The patrol says the fixed-wing single-engine plane went down Friday morning in a field northeast of Ellis.

The pilot was 23-year-old Garrett Moore of Oakley.

The aircraft was an Air Tractor AT-401B spray plane owned by Frontier AG of Oakley.

ORIGINAL: One person was killed when a small plane crashed in western Kansas Friday morning.

Emergency responders were called mid-morning to the report of a plane crash about five miles north and five miles east of Ellis.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the single engine plane crashed in a field, killing one person.

The Hays Daily News reports that the plane was heading to Oakley and had been missing for approximately three hours.
