Construction Site in Salina Becomes Site of Crime

KSAL Staff - October 12, 2015 11:13 am

Salina police are investigating a burglary at a construction site at Heusner Elementary.

W.C. Weins and Company, the Hutchinson construction crew commissioned to do the work at the school, reported that the fence lock was broken, and the thief forced entry into their truck.

The unknown suspect stole tools of which the company is still trying to assess the value, but police did report that a Hilti GPS robot valued at $25,000 was stolen.

I seen a comment yesterday on this story about home many seatbelt citations it would take to pay for the stolen stuff. Honestly that seems to be the problem here in Salina the police are out to get tickets for everything but there is little to try and stops crimes like this from happening. Most of these crimes are committed by drug users needing money for their habits or by people to lazy to work for their money. The last I heard besides a patrol unit the police department has investigators plus under cover people so there is plenty of information out there to find these people and also to stop the major thefts before they happen. What is even funnier the city manager seems to be more interested about helping the Friends of the River then doing something about all the crime in this town. The commissioners who should be inquiring of what is being done to reduce crime are just ignoring the problem spending tons of taxpayer monies on supposed projects to bring people to Salina. Well folks who wants to go to any city or town where crime is rampant? Plus driving down north 9th st to get to town makes people wonder why they are making the effort as they pass through the ghetto.
