A woman is assaulted after a man knocks on her door Thursday morning.
Salina Police say the attack began immediately when the 22-year-old female opened her door in the 900 block of Highland at about 6:30am.
Captain Jim Norton tells KSAL News the intruder punched the victim and then dragged her inside and held her down, groped her and demanded money. She was able to fight back and escaped to call police.
Officers found a man who fit the attacker’s description nearby in the 700 block of S. 10th on foot and intoxicated.
Police arrested 28-year-old Michael P. Darnell, 208 S.10th, on charges that include aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping and attempted robbery.
