Winter Storm Warning Saturday Night Into Sunday

A mix of weekend feezing rain, sleet, snow, and bitter cold that is expected to impact Kansas prompts a winter storm warning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a winter storm warning is in effect from Saturday night until Sunday evening. Forecasters say that two to six inches of snow is expected across the area.

The event will start as light freezing drizzle over much of south central and southeast Kansas.

Snow and sleet will develop across central Kansas and then expand southeast overnight as even colder air arrives. The heaviest snow is expected to occur overnight.

In addition, gusty north winds and Arctic air will result in wind chills from zero to 20 below zero from Saturday night through Sunday night.
