Vandalism of Union Pacific Vehicle Leads to Arrest

A teen is arrested for vandalism and theft after equipment is stolen from a Union Pacific vehicle.

Samuel Johannes, 16, of 2363 Chapel Ridge was arrested July 6th for allegedly removing items from the vehicle.

Johannes is being charged with vehicular burglary, theft and damage to property for the incident that occurred in a motel parking lot on 3050 Riffel Rd. overnight on June 26th.

The vehicle was found covered in orange spray paint with the tool box partially opened in the front seat.

Approximately $2,000 of safety equipment was allegedly taken, including vests, hard hats, respirators and safety glasses. Captain Mike Sweeny with the Salina Police Department reported partial recovery of the stolen items, and more arrests are expected to be made.
