Uniquely Decorated Tree Helps Children

A Christmas tree at the Salina City County Building is uniquely decorated.

Those who bring new children’s underwear and place it on the Christmas tree on the 2nd floor of the City-County Building will make life a bit more comfortable for children who receive services from St. Francis Community Services.  According to Building Superintendent Duane Grace, when children are removed from the home, they sometimes leave with only the clothes they have on.  These children are in need of underpants and socks in all children’s sizes.

In addition, the tree is being decorated with hats, scarves, mittens/gloves as well as stuffed animals.  Handmade items are welcome.

Grace said that last year, 361 items were donated.  He hopes to beat this record this year.  Donations can be dropped off at 300 West Ash, from 8:00-5:00 Monday through Friday.
