Tornado Touches Down In McPherson County

Severe thunderstorms dropped tornadoes, large hail, and damaging wind Sunday evening.

Storms that fired in Western Kansas strengthened as they moved northeast.

In Barton County, a funnel was reported in the Great Bend area. Large hail was also reported in the city, some of it larger than golf balls. Hail up to the size of tennis balls was reported in other portions of Barton County.

In McPherson County, a tornado touched down. The twister, which touched down after dark, traveled northeast through the county. It narrowly missed the city of McPherson.

There were reports of hail damage, downed power lines, and downed power poles. There were no reports of injuries.
