Teens Charged in Vehicle Burglaries

KSAL StaffJuly 3, 2014

Two Salina teens are placed in Juvenile Detention after a call to police about suspicious activity.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Melanie Lane after receiving a call from a concerned citizen just before 4am Thursday morning.

Police arrested 17-year-old Austin Armstrong and 16-year-old William Phommachanh after officers allegedly found the older teen inside a 1990 Geo Metro trying to steal the car while the 16-year-old hid next to the vehicle that was parked in the 800 block of Scott.

Further investigation led police to say the two are responsible for entering three other vehicles in the area and removing a CD case and about $3 in change.

The two were placed with Juvenile Services and are facing charges that include vehicle burglary, theft and attempted vehicle theft.
