Teen Hurt in Crash West of Salina

A teen was hurt when a car he was riding in rear-ended a semi on Interstate 70 west of Salina.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Mitchell Travis from St. Louis, Missouri, was driving a Chrysler 200,  headed west. He came up at a high rate of speed behind a semi in the right hand driving lane. The Chrysler ran into the bumper of the semi’s trailer.

Travis was not hurt, but a passenger in the car was. 17-year-old Deja Williams from St. Louis was transported to the hospital in Salina.

No one in the semi was hurt.

The patrol says that everyone involved was buckled up.

The crash happened Sunday morning at 8:02, 1.1 miles east of the Brookville Road exit on Interstate 70.
