The Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Fire District #1 were dispatched to a property just south of the city of Salina because of a small fire from a tractor.

Sheriff Soldan says that authorities were called to 3419 S. Holmes Rd. where two men were working to contain a fire.

James Becker was working on a 1957 John Deere 2020 tractor when a fuel leak caught on fire and spread to some grass and the tires of the tractor. The owner of the tractor, James Modin, was also present as Becker was working on the tractor for him.

Law enforcement arrived first and the deputy  was able to knock down most of the fire with his fire extinguisher before fire district #1 put out the rest.

The total damage to the tractor is $1,000.
