Sanders Re-Elected Republican Party Chair

KSAL StaffNovember 18, 2016

Clarke Sanders has been re-elected Chairman of the Saline County  Republican Central Committee.  Sanders defeated David D’Albini at the party’s reorganizational meeting held Thursday night.

Joyce Dial was re-elected as Vice-Chair.  Secretary Susan Blackshere and Treasurer Linda Reynolds did not seek re-election to their offices.  Vickie Nichols was chosen as the new Secretary and Judy Plankenhorn was elected as the Party’s Treasurer.  Other than the Chairman’s position, there were no opposing candidates.  The Party picks its officers every two years.

Following the meeting, Sanders stepped outside to smoke a cigar.  It was a cigar he had been given while in Tampa, FL attending the 2012 Republican National Convention as one of 40 delegates from Kansas.  He brought it home and said he would smoke it when a Republican was elected President of the United States.  “Obviously, I had hoped to smoke that cigar in November of 2012,” he commented, but “It tastes just fine tonight.”
