Saline County Man Killed in Crash

An Assaria man was killed in a single vehicle crash in rural Ellsworth County on Thursday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol,34-year-old Martin Kenney was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, headed west on K 140 Highway. For a unknown reason the SUV left the highway.

The Jeep crossed the center lane into the eastbound lane, entered the grass on the south side of the road, and began to roll. The SUV rolled through the grass into a barbed wire fence and came to rest on the driver’s side facing north.

Kenney, who was not buckled, was ejected. He was transported to the hospital in Ellsworth where he died.

The crash happened at 7:12 Thursday night, about 4 miles west of Brookville in Ellsworth County on K 140 Highway.
