Police are investigating a theft by deception case that originated on Craigslist.

Cash and a purse were stolen from a car in the 300 block of S. 12th Street sometime between 7pm Friday and 9:30pm Saturday night. Police say thieves caused $500 damage to the passenger door on 1999 Chevy Malibu and then took a Falun woman’s purse and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are investigating a break-in at Skeeter’s Painting, 1326 State Street that occurred between 6:30am Thursday and Friday at 7pm. Staff told officers that it appears nothing was stolen but many items had been rummaged through and moved around.
