Salina “Finding Bigfoot” Episode Airs Sunday

Is there any evidence that the mythical creature Bigfoot is in Kansas, or in the Salina area? You can find out Sunday night.

Last January a television crew was in Kansas looking for Bigfoot. At the time, Saline County sheriff’s deputies got a call of suspicious vehicles near a rural residence. Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said deputies found a television crew with several sport utility vehicles and a U-Haul at the site and determined the vehicles belonged to the crew from Ping Pong Productions of Los Angeles, Calif. The sheriff says the crew had the landowner’s permission to be at the location. A representative of the television crew said they had received information about a Bigfoot sighting in the area and were recording video for a cable program called “Finding Bigfoot.”

At the time, the sheriff said that members of the crew told deputies they hadn’t found anything.

Rene Holland, a researcher with the cable TV program “Finding Bigfoot”, told KSAL News at the time that the crew was investigating several locations in Kansas, including the Saline County location. Holland describes herself as a skeptic, but she remains on the hunt.

According the show’s website, in the Kansas episode the team travels to the heartland to determine if bigfoots live on the great plains of Kansas. With help from eyewitnesses, they narrow their search to waterways outside of Wichita where they take to the sky and employ a unique baiting technique.

The episode, titled “Bigfoot of Oz,” will be on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. on Animal Planet.
