It was the most formal of occasions Saturday night in Salina. Juniors and Seniors from Salina Central, Salina South, and Salina Sacred Heart High Schools dressed in their the finest and gathered to celebrate prom.

Students from Salina Central gathered at the Salina Country Club to promenade inside and celebrate. Salina South Students walked the red carpet into the Masonic Temple for fine dining and dancing. Students from Sacred Heart paraded into the former Marymount College. Each prom was all-inclusive, with a formal dinner followed by a formal dance.

Prior to the big event, several parks in Salina including Sunset and Jerry Ivey, were lively as students gathered with family and friends to take photos.

When the formal events were over, students from all three schools changed into more comfortable clothes and headed to the Central Mall for a Safe After Prom event. It included food, games, and prizes. Activities included things like karaoke, casino games, a money machine, inflatable games and activities, and more. There were drawings throughout the night for prizes.

Safe After Prom, which lasted from midnight until 3am, was free for all Salina students. It was funded through grants and donations from parents, businesses, and organizations.
