Police Seeking Flee and Elude Suspects

Salina Police were busy on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning chasing two drivers who decided to flee and elude officers. According to Police Captain Mike Sweeney, the first of two unrelated incidents took place Tuesday night in the 500 block of Montrose, while the second occurred early Wednesday in the 200 block of Baker.

Tuesday at about 11:35pm, officers stopped a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup for a traffic violation, when police say a white male exited the drivers seat and ran. A black male also left the vehicle – but returned when a white female took the wheel of the truck and drove off. Moments later they jumped out of the running vehicle and fled. The truck hit a curb in the 700 block of Morrison before striking a parked 1990 Chevy S-10. Police say there was minor damage to both vehicles. Police are still seeking the occupants as the investigation continues.

Police are still seeking the driver of a small compact car.
Early Wednesday morning at 12:56am, officers observed a 2001 Ford Focus stopped in the middle of the street in the 200 block of Baker and rolled up behind the vehicle. The driver then pulled into a driveway. While approaching the car on foot, one officer saw a handgun next to driver’s seat. The driver then backed up and sped away. Moments later the driver exited the car in the 600 block of University. Police say the car rolled to the curb with the door open. The handgun was found inside.
