The Salina South Cougars have finalized their Thanksgiving weekend plans. They’ll be heading to Emporia to play in a state championship football game.

The Cougars earned a chance to play for the state title by defeating Wichita Kapaun Mt. Carmel on the road Friday night at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. South built as much as a 24-point lead at 34-10, and held on for the 34 – 24 win down the stretch.

The Cougars play next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University. They will play the Blue Valley Tigers.
