Russell D. Austin, 60, was born on September 26, 1964 in California to Jackie L. Moody and Bruce Edward Austin.

Russell was a true gear head! With his passion for motors he was a professional drag racer, and the best mechanic around with a twisted sense of humor. Russell passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 with his loved ones by his side.

He was preceded in death by his dog, Otto; his father, Bruce Edward Austin; his uncle, Roy; grandpa, Earl and grandmother Mattie Austin. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Lynn Moody of California; his dog, Junk; three daughters, Jessica Renee and Alysis Marie Austin of Lindsborg and Renee Marie Cox of Salina; his son, Lynn Edward Austin of Salina; five grandkids, Isabelle (15), Adele (13), Josie Wyatt (10), Brayden Russell Austin (14), and Nicholas Hazaiah Ryder Austin (N.H.R.A) (3) of Lindsborg.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 14th at Ryan Mortuary. There will be a cruise for Russell’s final ride following the service to Bennington Cemetery where he will be buried next to his Father. Anyone with a hot rod is encouraged to join this final ride in memory of Russ.
